UniVRse, Malaysia’s first 3D Virtual Events Platform has been accepted into the MYStartup Pre-Accelerator Programme’s first cohort. It was a tough fight with only the top 40 out of 200 startup companies making it into the coveted program.

What is UniVRse?

A brainchild of Hezri Amir and his team, UniVRse hosts immersive virtual events that are accessible across devices without installations, enabling interaction and immersiveness at scale.

It’s an innovative platform that helps businesses reach their audiences through memorable virtual exhibition booth designs and helps a variety of institutions gather large numbers of people from across the globe in one (virtual) place for events of unimaginable magnitude.

It began when the team were tasked to build a virtual event for a client during the COVID pandemic. Hezri realized that many companies likely required a similar solution and the rest, as they say, is history.

About MyStartup

In conjunction with CRADLE, BEYOND4, and MOSTI, being a part of the MYStartup Pre-Accelerator programme is a stepping stone towards bigger things for UniVRse. One of MOSTI’s frameworks is to identify five unicorn startups in Malaysia by 2025 and UniVRse may very well be one of them in the making.

As an accelerator, MYStartup has been said to play an important part in driving economic growth through science, technology, and innovation. It can help startups develop networks to facilitate collaboration between talented people. This, in turn, can boost Malaysia’s startup scene as a whole and position Malaysia as an innovative, tech-driven nation.

Malaysia’s Web3 unicorn?

Malaysia may still have some ground to cover in creating a robust startup ecosystem. However, since MOSTI partnered with Cradle to launch the MYStartup Accelerator programme (MYStartup) earlier in June 2022, local tech startups can look forward to mentorships from industry leaders. Aside from learning from industry practitioners, they can also improve their access to potential funding opportunities in order to bring Malaysian solutions to global markets.

What they can look forward to:

  • Lessons in recruiting talent, regulatory advice, and more
  • Access to other benefits and resources worth up to RM2 million
  • The opportunity to partner with any of the 80 corporate bodies from the programme’s database

With the advent of Web3, decentralization, NFTs, and more, UniVRse is uniquely positioned to capitalize on newer advances in immersive tech driven by the COVID-19 pandemic. The company’s acceptance into the MYStartup Pre-Accelerator programme can help spur the adoption of virtual events in Malaysia and across the globe as we prepare for a future with a fully-developed Metaverse that has gone mainstream.
